: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice October 28, 2008, 09:31:21 AM
This might help you....THe T-Mo G1 data plan and the Blackberry data plan are the same price...T-mo is raising the price of all their data plans except the Blackberry data plans

http://gizmodo.com/5069585/t+mobile-becomes-less-budget-increases-price-on-data-plans

Before T-Mobile customers start cheering for the long-awaited 3G services which began rolling out earlier this year, they might want to stop and think twice as rumors surface that T-Mobile plans to increase their data packages as early as the beginning of November. The cost of supporting the 3G network is now being passed on to consumers.

Some people will not be affected, such as Blackberry users who want unlimited data and unlimited messaging. Included among some of the changes is a data cap for T-Mobile Shadow users, at 50 MB and 100 MB respectively. Current T-Mobile customers who are planning to add data to their existing plans might want to do so now to grandfather the price.

I need a curve re flashed! I couldn't do it myself, the computer doesn't detect it because it won't turn on. I switched batteries, tried turning it on while hooked up to the charger and nothing.

Anyone know of a a shop?
: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice November 14, 2008, 01:24:51 PM
What provider does the Blackberry belong to ? ATT, TMO, Sprint ?

All you need to do is download Desktop Manager
Desktop Manager download (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/)

Install it and see if your PC sees the BB Device

if not try this link Try this (http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8100-series-discussion-pearl/117181-computer-won-t-recognize-my-bb.html)

you may need to reinstall the OS on the BB.....let me know what provider it belongs to and I can get u the correct OS
: Blackberry Users
: FerNie Rox! November 14, 2008, 01:45:04 PM
It's for att, I do have desktop manager. But it doesn't detect it when I connect to the pc. I also tried using JL Cmder
: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice November 14, 2008, 02:11:29 PM
Does JL Commander see the device ?

if so use Option 5 to wipe and set to Factory defaults
: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice November 14, 2008, 02:14:50 PM
or download the ATT OS for your device

Download here (https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4)

install it on your PC and then do these steps

1. Install the desktop software.
2. Install the handheld software. (If it is a non Vendor software.. exp. T-Mobile. search and delete the "vendor.xml" file.)
3. Pull the battery out of your device.
4. With the battery out connect the device to the computer.
5. Go to Options and select "connection settings"
6. Select USB PIN this may take a few moments since there is no battery in the device. you might even have to select detect device in some rare cases.
7. Select the application loader icon.
8. Select all software you want installed.
9. Proceed to the end portion untill you see the "Finish" button.
10. Very IMPORTANT. do not hit the finish button, instead select the ADVANCED button.
11. Make sure both boxes are checked.
12. Proceed until it asks you if you want to automatically back up and restore. Select DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY BACK UP MY HANDHELD.
13. Once the process starts. take care not to bump out the cord and re-insert the battery. Again on some rare occasions you might have to wait until it finishes saying connect to insert the battery.

THIS MAY FAIL THE FIRST OR SECOND TIME DONT WORRY JUST KEEP TRYING.

If you do not get it by the 3rd time.. download the Blackberry java developers kit and install it. once installed find the javaloader.exe file and move it into the c:\ directory

Once it is under the c:\, go to start then run and type. cmd.exe

After the command prompt apears type in "c:\javaloader -usb wipe" to wipe the handheld

*The reason I have highlighted Step 13 is that this is very important to do BEFORE the DM tries to re-start your device because it WILL NOT re-intialize your device IF THE BATTERY IS NOT IN YOUR DEVICE.
: Blackberry Users
: FerNie Rox! November 14, 2008, 04:06:22 PM
I did try option 5 but Jl will not detect it either. I didn't bring it with me to work today but I'll try this out tonight! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v499/MayhemFerNie/Smileys/thumbup.gif)

: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice January 08, 2009, 09:29:38 AM
The storm is junk....if you want a nice blackberry you can't beat the 83xx Curve devices or if you got the need and $$ get a Bold....I love my Bold...super fast and I have a 32gb ScanDisk card in it so no more need for an iPod

T-mobile users should wait till nice month to get the new 8900 Curve....its a smaller version of the Bold....ATT will get this in another few months.

Until you have a Blackberry you wont understand the reason why people love them....the G1 and the soon to G2 are nice phones....great browsers....but email function is a PUSH/PULL setup which is about old as CJ's toyota.....plus the OS on the G1 is OPENSOURCE....which means anyone can see how it was made and write virus for it.....

8900 slower cpu, no 3gm not so great web browser. no touchscreen ( unless i missed it in the review ) no price set up yet. but i bet it's more than the 179.00 i paid for my g1.

I like my g1 the email suits my needs as a non business professsonal, I can see why it would meet ice's needs. at the end of the day, in nov. when i got it, there was no release date for the 8900 on t-mobile.

but i'm o.k. I sold my n-95 for enough of a profit that i only paid $47 out of pocket for the g1. but phones will always be a big rip off, they lock you into 2 year contracts but your gonna want a different phone before that period ends. something new comes out ever 6 months.  i'm good for now.

Dude,,,the 8900 has a 512 mhz processor on it with 1gb of onboard ram compared to your G1 with a 300mhz process and 64mb of ram....what the fook are you talking about.....thats like comparing a hayabusa to a 600 !

the 8900 is the shit....so is the Bold...they are the newest platform for Blackberry.....high RES screen...watching DVDs on this thing is bad ass....sure the 8900 doesn't have 3g connection...but 3g isn't that much faster then 2g....trust me....plus why would you use 3g for internet when it has WIFI which is way faster....

sure the Web Browser isnt that of a iPhone or maybe even a G1.......but you got to be a lonely person to be surfing the net on your cell phone all the time.....

plus....with the G1's operating system Android being OPEN SOURCE...get ready for a shit load of virus attacks....there are reports of a hacked Android phones in Europe and the Chineese are producing fake G1 style phones with the Android operating system because you can go and download the source code and tweak it anyway you want....so that means...VIRUS....good luck with your 600cc cell phone why the rest of ride the 1000's and the Busa's .....
: Re: Blackberry Users
: ice January 28, 2009, 08:32:52 AM
and touch screens are for fags.....explains why CJ wants one....lol

for reals..the touch screen on the iPhone and the Storm are not practical for someone who emails and Text alot....trust me I played with both the iPhone and the Storm and the touch screen sux for trying to type emails and that......

example....on the iPhone you use your finger to scroll....then to select something you have to carefully tape in the right spot to select it.....if you have fat fingers you end up selecting the wrong thing.....on the blackberry your fingers get tired after 90 seconds of having to push the screen down on each letter.....the keyboard is still the best and easiest to use....
